Anyone know anything about them?
I want to buy one its 15.6inches 3 GIGs of ram and an Athlon Graphics card for like 350CAD but I wnat to know if Emachinesa r ok and reputable.. and mike before you say it I cant afford a MAC lol
Steve
Is this new or used?

eMachines are much better than they use to be when they forced you into an included internet service. For the price, it sounds like a good deal. What size hard drive, do you know?
~ToNkS~
I dont remember.... Its new... without internet service requirements lol
Steve
If you can get the name/model number of it we can look it up online and give you a better critique but as it stands, it sounds like a good deal.
~ToNkS~
I was told if it cant run my sims game I ahve two weeks to return it....

Ill look and see if I can find it...
~ToNkS~
I think its this one

We had an old eMachine desktop.... yeah, it got serious slow after oldest was done with it, but it did what it needed to do for.... damn near 8 years.
Steve
Unless Mike knows something I don't (which is probable tongue4.gif ) I'd say it looks good. I see the sale ends in 9 days if that's where you're getting it. Maybe PM Mike with the URL to this post so he finds it right away?
~ToNkS~
Done thank you
Steve
My pleasure. smile.gif
~ToNkS~
I am going to get it tomorrow and worse comes to worse like they said I ahve tow weeks to bring it back
Mike
Ah the missing link...

I feel another quote coming on. =)

Here's the problem...
3 gigs of RAM - fine
1.6ghz Athlon - eesh, close but should be fine for running this app
ATI's X1200 - FAIL. Not officially supported by EA, the lowest supported model is the X1300. So if you plan on playing games with this you'll need a better GPU.

Do you lot have the equivalent of a black friday over there? I'm willing to bet come black friday you can get more horsepower for the same spend. I have no problem with eMachines, as Steve said the come a long way.
~ToNkS~
No black friday :(
But I can try it for two weeks so I think Ill go for it and if anything Ill bring it back.... Can I upgrade a video card on a laptop?
Mike
It's usually expensive and not the easiest process. Plus, these emachines aren't really built for that. They are built to give you value, not to scale so the motherboard might not support a more current video card.
~ToNkS~
Well I got it so we shall see right? lol
~ToNkS~
Oh ya the Model is E625-5361

Let us know how it goes. A lot of times the software will run fine with the GPU it's just a matter of occasional glitches and anomalies and them not wanting to . But then there are other times where certain key GPU components/firmware are needed by the software and simply wont run at all on older versions.
~ToNkS~
We shall see :)
~ToNkS~
It runs well I have no complaintes yet I am kind of disappointed though........................................

Don't forget, a pipeline ca run both ways...connect to his network he has the potential to connect to your computer. ;)
~ToNkS~
How can I avoid him from doing that except disconnecting from his network?
Mike
By connecting to his network you are essentially completing a handshake making it semi-trusted (depending on how you connected - home, office, etc.). A properly configured software firewall monitoring all ports can stop unwanted access regardless of the connection - but they are a pain to maintain.

Exactly why I don't want a wireless network. I don't feel like learning how to secure one.

Tonks, since your computer is so new and you haven't got it all 'set up' how you'd like it yet.... customized, programs installed, etc.... I'd not worry about him seeing your computer. I'd enjoy it for now and then restore the computer back to original when you leave there. Not the best solution, but easy enough to do.

It's simple, all you need to do is select a passphrase that's not idiotic like that guy did.
~ToNkS~
lol true mine at home was complicated and hard to nfigure out unless u knew me and my sister lol

Everyone hates my network passwords, they're usually along these lines: _:YKiphM.HlCC*iiroYY:</]$xP*^>^}j+{H

Try guessing that baby!
Steve
Okay ..... I guess your password is:

_:YKiphM.HlCC*iiroYY:</]$xP*^>^}j+{H

Mike
damn he's good! Time to reset my password to this hGHM.iKjQRu?\TL5oby^r( so no one will guess it
